Forging:
Forging is the term for shaping metal by using localized compressive forces. Cold forging is done at room temperature or near room temperature. Hot forging is done at a high temperature, which makes metal easier to shape and less likely to fracture. Warm forging is done at intermediate temperature between room temperature and hot forging temperatures.

Types of forgings:
1. Upset forging.
2. Drop forging.
3. Open die forging.
4. Hand forging.
5. Cold pressing.
6. Die Sinking.
7. Assembly and fabrication.
8. Ring rolling

Upset forging:
Upset Forgings is the term used to describe the gathering of metal over a given area and then subsequently formed in dies (or tools) to a required shape. Conventional methods of upsetting are electrical resistance and mechanical pre-forming. The process can be carried out at the end of the bar, both ends of the bar, or at any mid-division point.

Drop forging:
If it’s high strength and quality you need then Brooks Forgings can provide you with a drop forged solution. A cost effective method of manufacturing for all sorts of components from materials such as Carbon, Alloy & Stainless Steels as well as Complex Alloys and Aluminum and Brass. The forging process improves the strength of the metal by aligning the grain along the lines of potential stress, which cannot be achieved through casting, machining or fabrication. These types of components are used by our customers in agriculture, automotive, military, mining, lifting, fishing, forestry, medical and other industries.

Open die forging:
The open die forging process involves heating up the metal and working the metal between, a top ram and die and bottom anvil and die, through repeated blows. The operator manipulates the work using his skill to produce the shape required.

Hand forging:
Hand forging is not just a process used to make products from the past. Many low volume bespoke products are more cost effectively made by hand forging, due to the low set up costs. Another benefit is the superior grain flow and refining of the steels internal structure which comes from bending and working whilst hot. This means that products made using this method are stronger, more durable and longer lasting than fabricated, cast or machined components.

Cold pressing:
This facility is backed up by our own in house tool room, making Brooks Forgings your single source for all your metal forming demands. It doesn’t have to be just a batch of pressings, we can manufacture complete assemblies comprising several pressings, as well as machined parts and forgings. Please compare our service and prices with your next enquiry.

Assembly and Fabrication:

Assembly:
This involves us providing the labor, jigging and assembly fixtures to put together components using experienced and quick operators. Operations can involve the use of air tools, presses and riveting machines and associated automated packaging lines. Items can be packed into your own designed cartons and bags or under plain packaging to suit your needs.

Fabrication:
V. Laser Cutting.
VI. Welding.
VII. Grinding.

Fabrication depends on the following processes.
I. Bending.
II. Cropping.
III. Punching.
IV. Machining.
VIII. Painting, Powder Coating, Galvanizing & Zinc Plating.
