Every computer user has experienced run time errors while using one program or another. What many of us don't understand is what causes these run time errors?
Potential causes of these run time errors may include:
-Software issues -Virus -Memory issues -Conflict with running programs
Knowing the causes of these errors is the first step in trying to fix them. The second step is finding a solution and solving the problem. Many times will get a run time error that says "Run time error 53" if this is the case you should follow the steps to fixing that run time error. Some errors can be fixed in similar fashions where others have another way to be fixed. Standard ways to fix run time errors are as follows:
If it is a software issue you should first check out the developer website to make sure you have all updates downloaded and applied. If there are not updates available you should then try to uninstall and then reinstall the software.
Computer viruses also cause run time errors. This is because a virus is capable of tampering with the system settings and memory of your computer. To keep a virus from controlling your computer and causing these run time errors, you should install virus protection software as soon as possible. You may download a free trial of many virus protection software online. Once you have installed the software be sure to run it regularly to ensure your computer is not infected again.
If the run time error is being caused by a memory issue, it is recommended that you contact the developer of the program that has been causing the issue. The developer will be able to give any information about possible solutions for fixing the error.
Lastly, if the error is due to a conflict with running programs you should end all programs. If after you end all programs, you are still experiencing the same issues you should make sure that there is no utility program being loaded. Once you have checked everything try rebooting the computer.
If you are not sure what the run time error means you can find a full listing on the internet. Each error may mean something different from another, so all you have to do it search "Run time Error" and then the number that is given to you. Such as "Run time Error 6" which means there is a program error. You should check that the program has all of the latest updates. If there is an update available reinstall the program. If you continue to have the same error you should contact the software developer.
