Are You Still Paying that High Interest Rate?

Total views: 120 | Word Count: 530

Seeing as though our American economy is faltering and many homes are in foreclosure, you might be asking yourself am I paying too much for my current loan? And now that the home loan interest rates are at an all time low and people are receiving incredibly low fixed interest rates, this might be the best time for you to do so.

Today there are many refinancing institutions that offer great deals, but you must consider how great the deal is. For instance, the HUD administration can offer you a 4% interest rate but with the price of half your homes profit when and or if you sell. FHA is another great refinancing option but more or less caters to those who are financially needy.

When looking to refinance your home always make sure that the loan you are getting is better then the one you currently have. You can refinance and get a great starting interest rate, but six months later the rate gets higher and higher until its worse then the one you had. Even though in most cases this isn't true it can happen. Something that can help you decide on what a good interest rate for you would be is a mortgage calculator. A mortgage calculator will show you how much your payment in interest alone would be, and how much the total cost of interest will be when the loan is paid off and much more. Also it can help you find the right company to use when looking for the perfect interest rate.

Another great place to get refinancing is through a Credit Union. Credit Unions are different because they provide there members with very low interest rates. They also are more or less willing to help anyone with any type of financial means, so if you are not broke but you still want a refit then they can offer it to you at best 1% lower interest then what you're paying now.

If you don't belong to a Credit Union, there are many other financial institutions that are willing to do business with you, especially in today's current economic state. Even your current lender may work with you because they don't want to lose another asset, which five years ago would never have happened. Another tip before you refinance is to make sure you do your research. Researching all your options will definitely give you a better outlook on what you want and what your next move should be. And if you decide that it's not for you at least you know what your options are in the future. But I can assure you that the interest rates will never be this low again in your lifetime once the markets get back on their feet.

So if you are considering refinancing your home there is no better time or place to do so, and with many lenders out there that want your business you will be pleasantly surprised at their willingness to negotiate with you. Remember, you don't have to go with the first company you speak with. If they don't want to come to terms with your requirements they obviously don't need your money.
