Is America Going Modular?

Our present day economy is the worst it has been since the Great Depression back in 1932. Borrowers are losing theirs shirts because of corporate downsizing and numerous amounts of other reasons. The political world is trying, at least they say, to boost our economy and help our housing industry but no real results have surfaced only theories and suggestions. One of those suggestions is to put people into modular housing.
Modular housing would help borrowers have affordable homes and be able to stay there for years to come. Also by increasing the mass production of such homes the housing industry would automatically boost, from realtors, modular makers, and our seemingly declining economy.
The financial backers of the FHA lenders, Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, are the ones who suggested this idea. Economic advisors said that by stabilizing our housing industry it would positively affect our markets and increase our nation's credibility. If this is the truth then why aren't the political figures doing more to keep borrowers in their homes? Lenders and borrowers alike are feeling the stress of the crashing markets and their only solution is modular housing.
Many people already live in modular housing but for those that live in the inner cities it may be a bit less probable for this to happen. But for the most part modular housing could pose as a good idea and it is more likely that this idea will become exceedingly popular for the simple reason that modular homes are a lot cheaper.
But what about the companies that use conventional tools and equipment to build safer structures, and more desirable types of homes if modular housing comes to light? Will those types of companies' downfall further hurt our fragile economy or will the boost in our housing industry through modular homes suffice?
Modular housing is both accepted as a cheap and efficient means of housing and not only can more people with bad credit get into homes but first time home buyers can also buy a home and not worry about making the monthly payment. But do we really want millions of modular houses spread across our nation just as a meager means of surviving? Instead couldn't we force lenders to work with the people they lent money to stay in their home and maybe lower their interest a little?
Many financial experts agree that there is no real way to determine what each idea will do to our economic state, but trying to help it is better then not trying at all. So with no real way to know if the proposed modular frontier is going to help our economy survive in these hard financial times what is it that we should do?
