For the first time investors the different stock types are quite difficult to be understood. He/she gets confused over this. This causes them to either step back or do reckless investment. You must be really meticulous, if you are going to stay and indulge in the stock market. Know the different stocks that are available and what they stand for. In stock trade, Common stock is a term which will be heard quite often. Regardless of income, age or financial position any one is free to purchase a common stock. Common stock involves a certain element of ownership where you are investing. While the company performs extremely good and makes excellent turnover, its stock value increases. If the company put up a dismal performance, the stock would be of no value. Although the common stock holders does not have a role in the day to day business of the company, they posses the power to elect director board members. There are also certain other classes of stock in a company, that exists side by side with common stock. They are classified into Class A and Class B stocks. The class A stock owner possess the power of more votes for each stock share they possess than a class B stock’s owner. The power to generate different stock classes by a company is in vogue since 1987. Usually, most investors avoid the stock that has got many classes. The stocks that come with more than a single class does not come under common stocks.
Of course, the most chic type of stock is the Preferred Stock. This is exactly not a stock. Rather a mix of bond and stock. The preferred stock owner stands a chance to claim the assets of a company in case of its failure.
They also get the earnings of profit from the company ahead of common stock owners. If you really feel fascinated towards this preferred stock, one last thing; the company naturally has the power to buy back the stock from the owner and stop the dividend payment.
