Fixing on an Investment Style

A wise investor analyzes his risk tolerance level and style of investment to be followed before actually making the investment. There are various types of investments that could be made. For this three definite investment styles could be considered. They are the traditional/conservative, judicious, and aggressive methods.

If you have got only a low level of risk tolerance, most likely you would follow the traditional/conservative style of investment. On the other hand if your risk tolerance level is on the higher side, you could follow the judicious/moderate style or even the aggressive method. But it is your financial goal that determines the style that should be followed to a large extent.

For the needs that arise in future, the investment style needs to be only conservative or moderate. On the other hand if you want funds generated for an urgent need follow the aggressive method.

The traditional investors would want to maintain the initial investment that was made, even if no huge amount gets added to it on the way. They prefer only investing in common stock or bonds and in short term money market accounts. A savings account that earns an interest is popular among the conservative/traditional investors.

A judicious/moderate investor would be willing to take a slight risk compared to a conservative/traditional one. He invests a portion of money in higher risk investments also. By this he makes it sure not to lose his money altogether if at all he has to face a loss.

But aggressive investors are ready to take risks not taken by other investors. They invest huge amounts in riskier schemes hoping to reap excellent returns. They are ready to wait for the money to grow over a period. As is not the case with other investors, the aggressive investors have most investments made in the stock market it self, since they are ready to gamble their money.

The investment style is mostly determined by your financial goals along with your risk tolerance level. Invest only after doing proper research in the field/area. Never attempt an investment if you do not have an idea of this business.
