The term “sweet tooth” dates back to the 1300s, in a time when this term was used to describe someone who had a taste of delicacies in either sweet or un-sweet form. As time went on this term began to be used to describe those who cared more for the sweet delicacies than un-sweet delicacies. This came about after the development of refined sugar. Today this term is used to describe someone who has a craving for sweets.
Many people around the world crave sweets with some having worse cravings than others. These cravings can come in any form and be satisfied with almost anything sweet. From sugar packed fruit to chocolate or candy. Also, many sweets have become known as a comfort food or a food of well being.

In recent studies performed at universities across the nation, had tested fraternal and identical twins to see if this is true, the end result was that it is not always true. Many times on twin will have a sweet tooth and the other will not. Yet, this does not mean that genes don’t play a role, when in fact they do.
