When you sit down to dinner you generally have something to drink. Did you know that if you drink water before you eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you tend to eat less? This is because water is more filling than food itself. When you feel hungry in the middle of the day, even though you just had lunch, you may just need to drink water.
You need to understand that your body needs the nutrients from the food you eat each day, along with the water you should be drinking each day. Your body can go days without any food and survive on water alone, yet you should only do this if you are in the middle of the Sahara Desert, or fasting as part of a religious belief.
If you like to drink soda with your meals you will eat and drink more than you would if you had water before your meal. Soda has more sugar and calories in it than a king size candy bar, so you make the decision of what you will have to drink, water or soda. The choice is yours but keep in mind the amount of calories you are about to put into your body.
Like stated before, water will make you feel less hungry if you have a glass or two before you eat. This is how children fill up faster and don’t eat all the food on their plates; they have too many liquids before eating. On one hand this is a good thing because you know they are not over eating, on the other hand this is bad because they will want to eat later in the day.
As adults we are more apt to want to eat less to help us lose weight and stay fit. This is not a problem if we do it right. To keep you from over eating all you have to do is drink more water. When you feel hunger coming at you like a mad bull, grab a glass of water. Drinking eight- 8 ounce glasses of water a day, will keep you hydrated and help your health, including cutting back on hunger.
We all know that water has more benefits than what we have listed here. Water not only keeps you hydrated but it also helps your skin. Drinking water helps to replenish the looks of younger skin and cuts back on wrinkles and age spots.
So, what have we learned today? Water will help you eat less than you would if you were drinking soda or another beverage while eating. Water is a good way to stay hydrated and look and feel younger. Water helps you lose weight and will make you feel more energetic, making you want to get out and do something you wouldn’t normally want to do. Drink more water and have a fun, healthy life. Be happy and be fit.
