It definitely can't be said, that I am one for new technologies. I'm one of those people who find it exceptionally difficult to get used to all the new technology that today's world keeps throwing at us. Things like e-mail and instant messaging have only just started to appear in my day-to-day routine, letting go of my old ways with things like writing letters by hand has been very difficult for me to say the least.
Only recently have I started to make use of a simple digital diary, even though they have now been around for ages. So I think you can see why I might have my doubts about making such a big move from traditional film photography to the more modern digital photography with a digital camera.
But even I have come to realize just how much more useful a digital camera can be over a traditional film camera. I kept seeing the photos that my friends took on their holidays and around the house and what they can do with those photos once they have them on their computers.
And more and more recently I've been getting fed up with the limitations of traditional film. When I think back over the years, there are so many times when the advantages the digital camera can bring could have really been helpful. For one I wouldn't have lost a whole load of great photographs due to the fact that some of my film rolls had been damaged leaving the photographs useless.
Since I'm not one of those people who follow technology all that closely, the first thing I needed to do was do my research to find out what all the digital camera manufacturers had to offer.
It's the easiest thing in the world to just go out to your local shop and buy the first digital camera that looks good, but if you don't know what you're buying you are more than likely not getting the best digital camera for yourself and on top of that you will probably be paying more than you should be.
I began my research into the different digital camera companies and their products with Google, even someone like me has to admit that the Internet is the best research tool available to us today. I was able to read through lots of individuals reviews on different cameras and manufacturers.
Once I felt I knew a sufficient amount about the different digital cameras available at my price range I made my decision on which digital camera was best for me. I then proceeded to locate the best possible price, taking into account of course customer service etc. Since these days some of the best prices to be obtained can be located on online stores, this was where I focused my search.
During my research stages I had already read about different online stores, so I knew which places to visit and which to discard. Thanks mostly to my research I was able to obtain a digital camera that was right for me and was at a good price.
Now that I've had the chance to really give my digital camera a good try out, I only wish I had made the change to digital sooner. Now with my digital camera I have so many new options available to me, that I am able to obtain far better photographs then I ever could before.
The thing that I really like about digital photography is that it puts the control of the entire photography process in your hands! With film photography you took your photographs and that was pretty much it for you or me, editing your photos afterwards was pretty much out of the question. But with digital photographs, just taking them is only the beginning to what you can do.
Although I would never have thought I'd say this only a couple of months back, I have to admit that digital photography is far superior to traditional film photography. My only regret is that I did not take advantage of a digital camera sooner.
