It never fails to amaze me how the large canvas paintings end up on the walls in the art gallery. I wonder how long it takes for someone to actually finish a painting so huge. Well, if you are an aspiring artist but you do not know where to begin, look no further. You have the answer right here. Read on and this will be your bible to canvas painting.
Like I mentioned earlier, this article will serve as a good introduction to canvas painting. This article serves as a guide to canvas painting. I bet you can't wait to know more about canvas painting so, come let's find out more.
You should choose the right canvases. No doubt about it that there are many types of canvases available in the market. Do not be mistaken. These canvases are made of different materials. Some are made of cotton while some are made of linen. However, the different materials gives out a different effect on the painting and some canvases are not meant for beginners. I suggest that you should use a cotton canvas if you are a beginner.
The most essential item is the canvas. As we all know there are many types of canvases available in the market. If you are wondering which one to choose, well, calm down. This article is here to help. As beginners, you should start painting on cotton canvases. This is because; it does not take a lot of experience to control the flow of the paint on a cotton canvas. However, you must remember that you should choose a cotton canvas that is considered quite thick.
Brushes may be sold in packets and some may be sold individually. Trust me; you should get a variety of sizes of paint brushes. Small brushes are used to paint smaller areas while big brushes are used to paint bigger areas. You should get a good quality brush so that you can avoid wasting money buying brushes over and over again. A good quality brush, like one made from horse's tail can be difficult to find and costly.
However, these brushes are difficult to find and can be quiet costly. Another tip that I can give you is that you should get an easel to hold your canvas.
So what do you do if there's spillage of paint on your floor? Well, don't forget to get a bottle of turpentine. By wetting your cloth using turpentine, you can easily remove the paint stains on the floor. Trust me, you will create a lot of mess painting your first ever masterpiece.
Now, get out there and start canvas painting. You should let your emotions do the painting. Once you get the feel of it, you will enjoy canvas painting. Remember; do not be too hard on yourself. It may be difficult at first but don't worry. Just get the creative juices flowing.
