Today we live in a world full of perceptions, misconceptions, and many deceptions; Often, it is hard to tell these apart when learning new things.
Hypnosis is no stranger to an incredible amount of misconceptions, which is why it is important to really understand what those misconceptions are before assuming you can or cannot accomplish an objective through hypnosis. To really understand what hypnosis, or anything for that matter, is you must first understand all that it is not.
Once you know what hypnosis is not, everything you are left with is what hypnosis is.
Many false pretenses have been made through the media about hypnosis, most of these through movies and word of mouth. An important thing to note is that you cannot dominate someone's mind through hypnosis, you cannot control every action of just anyone using hypnosis.
Another's will is also something that you cannot dominate through hypnosis. Complete domination of the world of of human kind is simply not possible through hypnosis, please embark on a new path now if this is your intention.
The misconceptions that surround hypnosis can seem almost endless, which can often be the case when you consider any type of work that is associated with power over ones mind, thoughts, ideas and actions.
Power accompanies any way of life, society acknowledges this. Because of this, there are all kinds of associations and false ideas created with hypnosis. One example being money which carries connotations of power, though unless you are knowledgable about how to be powerful with money you will ultimately fail.
Any eloquent and masterful hypnotists have become so by first wiping celan from the slate any misconceptions about hypnosis.
Power is the most common misconception in the field of hypnosis. While it is true that you may holt some sort of power over your subject's mind, you will never be able to control them completely.
The unconscious mind is actually being held in a type of negotiation with the hypnotist, so that those undergoing hypnosis are not controlled but quite the opposite. Your moral and ethical base are stored in your unconscious mind. As a hypnotist you can negotiate with the unconscious, while not ever actually controlling one's morals or ethics.
The ethical code stored in the unconscious is unbreakable, these are the ideas, beliefs and moral standards that every person chooses to live their life by.
Among the common myths of hypnosis is the idea that one can completely control another, this is a myth simply because a person, whether in hypnotic trance or not, will only do what they want to do.
A common example of this is the ordinary stage hypnotist. These men/women will call for volunterrs from the audience, the volunteers are aware on some level that they will be asked to do certain things without knowing what they are doing, even if they are embarassing.
However these volunteers are usually the type of people who crave attention, and on some level know that they are going to get it by being hypnotized. They know they will be controlled and are consciously alright with it because there is no confliction in their moral code.
